Warner Bros Wants Many More Batman Films
02-05-2009
Today, Time Warner announced its Q4 earnings and in the process CEO Jeff Bewkes talked about "The Dark Knight" and the future of the Batman franchise.
.
"We look at Harry Potter It's fantastic to have franchises that last that long. We want to do that with Batman and Superman and perhaps Sherlock Holmes," said Bewkes.
.
"The sequels are as good, with new characters added, as were the originals. That wasn't the case in the years ago. Warners has more tentpoles as an on-going strategy that very much lifts its distribution and performance.
We think that's going to hold up our slate in the 2009 - 2010 period. We've got four more big tentpoles coming this year.
.
"So it sounds like Warner Bros would like to continue the Batman franchise after Christopher Nolan is done with the trilogy.
.
It's likely that Nolan would want to move on to other projects, but it's possible that he will stay on, the same way Sam Raimi did with the "Spider-Man" films.
