Moscow chamber band wins top international prize

KALUGA, November 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow State Conservatory's Sezar Quintet has won first prize at the Sergei Taneyev Chamber Music Competition in Kaluga, western Russia, the organizers said on Monday.

The competition, named after the famous Russian composer Segei Taneyev (1856-1915) was held in Kaluga for the fifth time on Sunday with more than 60 musical ensembles from 9 countries taking part, including China, Japan, the U.S., Italy, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine.

The second prize was jointly awarded to chamber trios from Lithuania and Russia, and third prize was another joint win for groups from Russia, Belarus and South Korea.

The competition organizers are the Russian Culture Ministry, the Kaluga Region government and the Moscow State Conservatory.
