El Airbus A320, que se dirigía a Carolina del Norte con 148 pasajeros y cinco tripulantes, volvía al aeropuerto de La Guardia tras ser golpeado en los motores por unos pájaros, según las primeras versiones, y quedó flotando sobre las aguas.-

El amerizaje fue controlado
Un avión comercial de la compañía US Airways, con 148 pasajeros y cinco tripulantes a bordo, que había despegado del aeropuerto de La Guardia con destino a la localidad de Charlotte, en Carolina del Norte, se vio obligado a hacer un aterrizaje de emergencia, poco después de las 15.30 (hora local), sobre el río Hudson en Nueva York, al oeste de la isla de Manhattan.

Según la versión oficial de la Administración de Aviación Federal (FAA, en sus siglas en inglés), un grupo de pájaros se había estrellado contra los motores del avión y los había estropeado, obligando al piloto, que acababa de despegar del aeropuerto de La Guardia apenas tres minutos antes, a hacer un aterrizaje de emergencia que no podría haber sido más exitoso.

Porque, pese a la espectacularidad de las imágenes ofrecidas por las televisiones, todos los pasajeros salieron ilesos, según han confirmado fuentes de la FAA.

Los ocupantes pudieron ser rescatados sin problemas por los servicios de rescate de la Guarida Costera y por los ferrys comerciales que pasaban en ese momento por la zona, informa Bárbara Celis.

"Una obra maestra" del piloto
El aparato, un Airbus 320, pudo aterrizar sobre las gélidas aguas del río Hudson, a temperaturas inferiores a los 5 grados bajo cero, gracias a la pericia del piloto, que también salió ileso del accidente.

El comandante se vio obligado a realizar una maniobra de emergencia para intentar posarse sobre el agua.

Según Ben Von Klemperer, un testigo citado por la cadena CNN, "no iba demasiado rápido y el contacto con el agua se produjo de manera suave", por lo que todo indica que el amerizaje se hizo de manera controlada.

En una rueda de prensa posterior en Manhattan, el alcalde de Nueva York, Michael Bloomberg, ha tenido palabras de agradecimiento para el piloto, el artífice de que todo quedara en un susto.

Bloomberg ha dicho que fue "maravilloso" y "una obra maestra" la manera que tuvo de planear sobre el agua sin que nadie resultara herido.

El regidor dijo que había hablado con el piloto y que éste le había confirmado que "antes de salir del aparato lo recorrió entero dos veces para comprobar que no quedaba nadie dentro", lo que agranda aún más el valor exhibido por esta persona, que fue la última en abandonar el aparato semihundido en las aguas del Hudson.


Las imágenes emitidas en directo por canales de EE UU han mostrado a varias personas con chalecos salvavidas sobre las alas del avión, esperando a ser rescatadas por barcos que han rodeado enseguida el aparato.

Un pájaro en el motor
Al parecer, el avión, que operaba el vuelo 1549, estaba tratando de regresar al aeropuerto, después de haber sido golpeado supuestamente por un pájaro que se coló en uno de los motores.

Según Alberto Panero, uno de los pasajeros, "el avión se agitó y podías oler el humo y el fuego e inmediatamente el aparato empezó a regresar" explica Alberto Panero, uno de los pasajeros.

"De repente, el capitán vino y dijo 'preparados para aterrizar' y fue cuando supimos que bajábamos", continúa, asombrado de que "todo el mundo esté vivo.

A la veille de son investiture, c’est désormais surtout un sauveur que le monde entier attend.Un renouveau des relations transatlantiques ?Rarement un président des Etats-Unis n’aura suscité autant d’attentes.

Parce que Barack Obama incarne le changement après huit années de Georges W. Bush placées sous le signe de la peur, de la guerre et de la faillite financière. Les Allemands, comme beaucoup d’Européens, comptent sur cette transmission du pouvoir pour espérer un renouveau des relations transatlantiques. Le suspense s’est surtout fait sentir lors des primaires à l’intérieur du parti démocrate américain. Finalement les Européens auront affaire à Barack Obama et Hilary Clinton, nouvelle secrétaire d’Etat.

Ouvert à ses anciens rivaux et à quelques membres de l’administration Bush, l’équipe Obama est une sorte de "Grosse Koalition", formule qui semble plaire en période de crise. Le dossier AfghanistanUne fois investi, il est à prévoir que Barack Obama va se concentrer en priorité sur des problèmes intérieurs, dont les Etats-Unis ne manquent pas. S’il devait soutenir l’industrie automobile américaine actuellement en pleine crise, il n’est pas sûr que cela arrange les affaires des Allemands.

Ceux-ci vont être concernés par la plupart des défis qui se présentent au nouveau président américain. Horst Köhler, Angela Merkel et Frank-Walter Steinmeier ont certes apporté leur soutien à Barack Obama au moment de son élection, mais quelle sera leur réaction quand il demandera à l’Allemagne de concrétiser ce soutien par de nouvelles troupes en Afghanistan ?Le style Obama à l’allemandeOutre l’Afghanistan, la crise financière, l’Irak et le Proche-Orient, l’équipe Obama est attendue sur le terrain de la lutte sur le changement climatique, notamment pour relancer le protocole de Kyoto.

Elle a, sur ce terrain, cité l’Allemagne en exemple, dans la perspective de lier économie et écologie en investissant massivement dans les énergies renouvelables. Si les mesures du nouveau président des Etats-Unis vont évidemment influencer la politique allemande, c’est également le cas du "style Obama". Beaucoup se sont essayé au "Yes, we can" et le SPD, suite à l’énorme campagne électorale du sénateur de l’Illinois effectuée sur le Web, vient de présenter son nouveau site Internet très américanisé.

MEXICO CITY, January 14, 2008 - In a surprise move today, Mexican President Felipe Calderon appeared in person at the opening of the Sixth World Encounter of Families and gave the keynote speech formally inaugurating the conference.

Calderon's decision to associate himself formally with the Encounter sends a clear message of opposition to anti-family forces in Mexico, who are pushing to legalize abortion, euthanasia, homosexual “marriage," "express divorce," and other similar policies.

According to conference official Msgr Lozano Barragan, "the family is the source of life and life cannot be created by people of the same sex, and therefore this does not represent a family."

Barragan also stated that "love, sex, and fidelity" would be key topics at the conference.

Calderon's appearance also lends support to Cardinal Archbishop Norberto Rivera Carrera of Mexico City, who has been repeatedly threatened with legal action for opposing the legalization of abortion in the nation's capital, as well as other goals of anti-family socialists.

Mexico's president did not address the specific issues of express divorce and homosexual unions, although he decried the increasing fragmentation and disintegration of the Mexican family.

"The proliferation of individuals who carry out acts of violence, of crime, of hate, their way of life sadly coincides to a great extent with the fragmentation and dysfunction that affect the family environment," said Calderon.

Calderon noted that the family
"is the first and most decisive source for education, it is where cultural, ethical, spiritual, and political values are forged."

The World Encounter of Families, which is held once every three years, was begun by Pope John Paul II to strengthen the value of the family within the Catholic Church and throughout human society.

Two hundred Catholic bishops and thirty cardinals are expected to attend, with a total attendance of 50,000 at the closing mass of the conference, which will be held in Mexico City's Basilica de Guadalupe.

The Eastern Orthodox have also sent representatives to this year's meeting.

President Felipe Calderon is a member of the National Action Party (PAN), which was created in the 1940s to give political expression to social ideals supported by Catholics, while avoiding a formal association with the Catholic religion.

His election in 2006 followed the election of Vicente Fox to the presidency in 2000, the first such victory in the PAN's history.

Although Calderon's administration continues to distribute artificial contraceptives in violation of Catholic teaching, he has resolutely opposed the loosening of the nation's abortion laws, which generally prohibit abortions except in cases of rape or danger to the mother's life.

Under Calderon's leadership the nation's executive branch launched a significant legal challenge to the legalization of abortion-on-demand in Mexico City in 2007.

However, despite arguments made before the Mexican Supreme Court by Calderon's Attorney General and his Commissioner for Human Rights, the Court ruled in 2008 that Mexico City's law was constitutional.

Puente ''Baluarte''

El “baluarte” de los puentes en Durango
Se trata del puente atirantado con el claro central más largo de América Latina.

Durango, Mexico.- La autopista Durango-Mazatlán incluirá la construcción del puente Baluarte, el más grande de América Latina, ya que tendrá una longitud de mil 124 kilómetros y será doblemente atirantado con una altura de 520 metros.
Esta autopista tendrá un costo de 2 mil 500 millones de pesos, cuando se termine. Tendremos el puente atirantado con el claro central más largo de América.
Se encuentra en una barranca de 390 metros (casi lo que median las Torres Gemelas de Nueva York), que es muy profunda y tiene pilas que son las que soportan los cables de atirantamiento de 105 metros de altura.
El puente “Baluarte”, de acuerdo a información proporcionada durante la última visita del presidente Felipe Calderón en el mes de febrero, se aseguraba que se concluirá en el 2010 y que será el puente más grande en América Latina.
Iniciar la construcción del puente más grande y más alto de América Latina y uno de los más grandes del mundo, resulta fundamental para el desarrollo de la región, para los pueblos de esta zona serrana de Durango y Sinaloa, pero sin duda alguna también lo será para México.
Se trata de un proyecto que tiene una altura de 108 metros, lo cual en el lugar donde está lo volverá una estructura realmente única a nivel nacional, a nivel latinoamericano y muy probablemente a nivel mundial.
EL PUENTE - Su construcción tiene un costo de mil 700 millones de pesos, tendrá cuatro carriles de servicio y lleva un total de 12 pilas que sostienen la superficie de rodamiento.
Dicha obra está programada se termine para el primer semestre de 2010, para que se pueda inaugurar o poner en operación como parte de los festejos del bicentenario de la Independencia de México. Sin duda esta obra resultará impresionante pero será colosal el reto por tratarse de una obra también colosal en su ingeniería, el puente va a medir más de un kilómetro de largo.

Claves - Vía rápida
La carretera Durango-Mazatlán corresponde al eje carretero Matamoros-Mazatlán. Se ubica en el kilómetro 157+400 en los límites de los Estados de Sinaloa y Durango.
Beneficiará a los municipios de Concordia y Mazatlán en Sinaloa, y Pueblo Nuevo en Durango ya que permitirá un ahorro en tiempo de 3.5 horas y en distancia de 75 kilómetros.

Por 22 ª vez se llevado a cabo por parte de la IFFHS la votación anual del Mejor Portero del Mundo. Este año la distinción fue para el portero del Real Madrid Iker Casillas.

Un mexicano aparece en la lista de los 16 mejores, el arquero del América Guillermo Ochoa, en el puesto 11, empatado con Rogerio Ceni, del Sao Paulo.

Destaca que seis de los 16 mejores porteros del mundo del año 2008 son latinoamericanos y nueve son europeos, completándose la lista con el norteamericano de 37 años "Brad" Friedel, que juega en Birmingham.

España, Brasil, Rusia y Alemania están representadas con dos porteros cada una dentro del "top 16".

Con 22 años de edad, Igor Akinfeev de Moscú y el ex-Leipzig René Adler (nacido 15.1.1985) son los dos porteros más jóvenes del "top 16".

De los 16 mejores porteros del mundo 2008 cuatro juegan en la Premier League inglesa, tres en la Primera División española, así como dos de cada uno en la Serie A italiana, la Bundesliga alemana y la Premier League de Rusia.

La entrega del galardón al Mejor Portero del Mundo se efectuará en ocasión de los "25 Años IFFHS y Gala Mundial de Fútbol" el 16 de marzo de 2009 en Francia.

Pepe was choosing from the 60 nominees for the uefa.com users' Team of 2008.

Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid CF) I play with him at Real Madrid and know how good he is. For me, he is the best goalkeeper in Europe.

Right-back: José Bosingwa (Chelsea FC) He was a team-mate at Porto and we also play together for Portugal. José is very fast and has just what a right-back needs: he defends and attacks very well.

Central defenders: Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United FC) and Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea FC) I will pick Ferdinand for his great season with Manchester United, he won it all. And Ricardo is my defensive partner in Portugal. He keeps it simple and he is a great centre-back to play with.

Left-back: Patrice Evra (Manchester United FC) I really enjoy watching him play. His attitude is great, he is a fighter on the pitch.

Right midfield: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United FC) He is the best player in the world, so that was an easy one to pick!

Central midfield: Marcos Senna (Villarreal CF) He was so important for Spain during EURO 2008, my vote goes to him.

Attacking midfield: Cesc Fàbregas (Arsenal FC) He brings a lot to both the Arsenal and Spain teams. He's got lots of skills and raises the level of every midfield.

Left midfield: Arjen Robben (Real Madrid CF) He's been playing so well lately and I think he did very well at EURO 2008 for Holland.

Forward: David Villa (Valencia CF) Villa is my favourite striker. He is so smart, so fast and he needs only half a chance to score a goal. He is always there waiting for the defender to lose the ball.

Forward: Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) He is fantastic, the way he dribbles at speed is astonishing and it is very hard for defenders to steal the ball from him.

Coach: Luis Aragonés (Spain) After all the criticism he suffered here in Spain, I enjoyed watching his team playing during EURO 2008. He deserves the prize.

Fans have until Monday to select their star performers from a list of 60 players and coaches who have shone over the past 12 months.

Fun Town was an amusement park in Atlanta during the time that King was the pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church. One of his daughters wanted to go to Fun Town, but the park had a whites-only policy. King had the painful duty of explaining to his daughter why she couldn't go to the amusement park.

That kind of legal segregation is a thing of the past in large part because of the efforts of King and others involved in the civil rights movement. On Tuesday — the day after the national holiday established to celebrate King's birthday — America will take a major step in realizing the dream of the slain civil rights leader when Barack Obama is sworn in as president of the United States.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

''In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check''
When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds". But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check — a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.

Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.
Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.
We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.
As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "For Whites Only". We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.
Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.
I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty,
